One Florida law that has made many of these lists is one about doors opening outwards. The law states that theaters, operas and other entertainment facilities must have doors that open outwards. While at first glance this may seem like a dumb law, it exists prevent loss of life in the event of a fire or other emergency. After some noteworthy tragedies, many lawmakers took measures to ensure crowds can exit a building as soon as possible if need be. If doors opened inwards, a mass of people huddled around the door would prevent its opening and therefore trap everyone inside.
