“The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.”
― George Orwell
If you are facing criminal charges in Florida, do not delay in seeking out an experienced Miami attorney. Florida’s legal system can be difficult to navigate…just ask your local hog farmer.
As part of our blog series on Florida’s 15 craziest laws, we are talking about the constitutional rights of pregnant pigs.
In 2002, Florida voters made the unusual move of approving a constitutional amendment concerning farming practices and animal rights. The law prohibits certain practices of restricting movement of pregnant hogs. But what is unusual and controversial about the law is its addition to the state constitution. Since its passage, more restrictions have been put in place on the petition drive, making it more difficult for ordinary Floridians to make changes to the law through the ballot.
As of this date, no hog farmers have been charged with the crime. If you are charged with violating a pig’s constitutional rights, or any other crime in the state of Florida, give our Miami law firm a call. We provide quality representation for those accused of crimes, from the mundane to extraordinary.
