This Port Richey man deserves a dumb criminal mention for collecting two arrests on a single night in Pasco County…and on a Sunday no less!
Sheriffs responded to a 9-1-1 call after 48 year old Donald Gartner was observed by his neighbor urinating in her bushes, breaking her porch light, and ripping out the light’s wiring. Gartner, who admitted to being intoxicated, first claimed he had been trying to find some cans of paint, but later told police he was simply trying to change the porch light.
He was booked and released on his own recognizance a couple hours later.
While waiting for a ride in the Land O’Lakes jail parking lot, Gartner was observed by a car owner trying to break into her vehicle in the visitor parking lot. She yelled at him to stop, and Gartner claimed he thought the car was his.
A short time later, Gartner was again arrested, for trying to break into a second car in the jail parking lot, this time witnessed by the lieutenant sheriff. This time he was not released, and was booked on two charges of attempted car theft.
Gartner said he hoped the arresting deputy was not mad at him for breaking into the cars.
