Tips to Avoid Summer Personal Injury – The Playground

We are blogging a series of tips on how not to see a Miami personal injury attorney this summer. 🙂 These are based on the most common summer injuries in Florida. Did you know that playground accidents are the leading cause of injury in elementary school children?

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)issues guidelines for playground surfacing and age-appropriate warning labels on playground structures.  Florida’s Child Care Guidelines include playground safety.

  • Ground should be covered inches deep with shredded rubber, hardwood fiber mulch or fine sand, extending at least six feet in all directions around the equipment.
  • Children’s clothes should be snug-fitting and free of drawstrings. Necklaces, scarves, purses, and helmets are unsafe to wear on the playground.

  • Supervision is the most important safety protection on the playground. Adults should watch closely, and not permit children to engage in unsafe behavior like crowding, pushing, or horseplay.

  1. I think parents should be more careful about their child to avoid their personal injury. Moreover it is the responsibility of the authority of playground to make it safe for children. As a Tampa Personal Injury Attorney, I think parents and playground authorities work together to avoid an accident because after an accident you may get a compensation to recover your medical expense but it will be not enough to recover your actual loss
