Diddy Claims Self Defense in UCLA Altercation

football-ulcaYou never know when you might need criminal defense representation, even when you are a world famous, wealthy music mogul. Diddy was recently in the news for all the wrong reasons when he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon in an altercation with the weight training coach for UCLA’s football team. Bleacher Report reports on this in a recent article titled “Diddy Arrested: Latest Details After Alleged Fight with UCLA Football Coach.”

Matt Fitzgerald of Bleacher Report writes, “Renowned rapper and pop culture icon Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was arrested Monday on UCLA’s campus for assault with a deadly weapon following an alleged altercation with Bruins assistant coach Sal Alosi—whom the NFL suspended for tripping a player during a 2010 game against the Miami Dolphins—after he was hard on Diddy’s son during Bruins practice. TMZ.com reported UCLA coaches have moved on from the incident, and are ‘regretful the situation escalated to an arrest.’… TMZ reported the initial arrest, indicating Alosi chewed out defensive back Justin Combs, Diddy’s son, during strength and conditioning drills, while Diddy bore witness. TMZ added the coach was ‘riding Combs hard,’ screaming, ‘I don’t care if your dad’s here. This is UCLA. I’m going to treat you just like I treat everyone else.’ After the practice session ended, Diddy allegedly went to the coach’s office in the school’s athletic facility and grabbed him. According to a release on the university’s official website, the weapon Diddy used was a kettlebell. ‘The various accounts of the event and charges that are being reported are wholly inaccurate,’ Nathalie Moar, a rep for Combs Enterprises, said in a statement to the Associated Press (via ESPN.com). ‘What we can say now is that any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son.’ ‘We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed,’ the statement continued.”
