The author of the article writes, “Newly released surveillance video captured the frightening moments when a driver lost control and careened into a Miami gas station, crashing into a vehicle and landing in the patio of a restaurant, Wednesday night. The footage captured the motorist’s silver BMW making a right turn at the Valero gas station on Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 78th Street. The vehicle then seems to head directly toward the back of a burgundy SUV at a high rate of speed. The BMW then broke through a chain-link fence, just off camera, before landing on the back patio of The Big Fish Restaurant, located next to the gas station. ‘We heard a big sound from the back patio,’ said restaurant employee Cali Linares. City of Miami Fire Rescue responded to the scene of the crash, at around 8:30 p.m. ‘It appears that the gas pedal on his vehicle became stuck,” said Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll. ‘He tried his best to maneuver his vehicle around numerous cars.” Fortunately, The Big Fish was closed to patrons at the time of the accident. “The most important thing was that nobody was hurt,” said Linares. First responders said they are thankful there were no pedestrians on the sidewalk or in the gas station. ‘Several people in the restaurant rushed to his aid, including an off-duty Miami firefighter who was there having dinner with his family,’ said Carroll. ‘They were able to get the door open and assist him out of the car.’”
