Woman Sues Restaurant After Thrown Roll Causes Injury

brown-518324_1280Apparently a roll will put your eye out too. Troy Tucker, 67, of St. Louis, MO has filed a lawsuit seeking $35,000 in damages from Lambert’s Café in Sikeston. The restaurant chain is known as the “Home of Throwed Rolls.” The restaurant even has that title trademarked. Troy claims that she suffered a permanent injury to her eye following a lacerated cornea caused by a roll that hit her in the face. The suit claims that Lambert’s Café does not sufficiently train its employees how to throw the rolls without endangering or injuring diners. One may wonder if the diners should simply be more ready to catch rolls when they dine at the Café. In fact, there has been some confusion surrounding the lawyer who filed the claim, as he was confused with the law firm of local civil rights attorneys, prompting some angry responses from local readers of the news. Lambert’s and its roll-throwing practices are much-loved locally, so this suit has gained some attention. Apparently, there have been seven other claims against Lambert’s Café for similar reasons, all of which have been settled out of court. Lambert’s general manager has declined to comment, and Tucker’s lawyer has only stated “I’m looking for adequate compensation for my client.”

Sometimes, things may seem a bit silly when it comes to injury and the law. However, sometimes people do get seriously hurt in seemingly odd ways. Strange things happen every day. This is really why we have the court system: so that judges and juries can figure things out and find a solution to problems and disagreements. Sometimes, people don’t get what they deserve until it goes to court. This is true both for businesses and for individuals. Yes, it is true that some people take advantage of the system, but other times, most of the time, the system makes sure people are treated fairly.
